A Whole Year!

Yes, I know. I know. But I'm going to try this again.

Still Sisters. Still in love. Just a little different these days....

Singing Lady!

By now, anyone who has spoken to us in the last month can tell you what Jane's latest obsession is. Let's just say that "The Hills Are Alive" every single day in our house. Janie adores "The Sound of Music" or as she calls it "The Singing Lady".
The other day, we were playing around and I asked her if she wanted to put on her princess dress-up dress.
She declined and told me that she didn't want to be a princess, she wanted to be a "nut" (nun). I'm not sure how I feel about that aspiration, but for now, we're going with it.
Here she is singing her favorite "Singing Yady" song.

Did Someone Say Scholarship?

Andrew got Jane two pink lacrosse sticks last weekend.
She enjoys playing with her "sticks" and I have to say that seems to be a natural.
Yet another way she is proving to be my child.
(Is there such a thing as a "maternity" test?
Someone call Maury Povich.)

Molly Laughs!

Finally!
After months of seriously, bubbly smiles, Molly has started laughing!
It's such a sweet little noise and it makes my heart just swell with joy and happiness.
Here's a video of her laughing during her lunch.
She only does it once and it's at the very beginning, so get ready!

Hare Today!

After considering the carefully placed "suggestions" of all of my good friends, I finally took the plunge and cut the back of Janie's hair!

The mullet had turned into a rat tail and then a rat tail/rat nest combo that was impossible to tame. It was long enough for two pony tails, but not much else!
This is before...
(I know, it was bad)

The Rat Tail in all it's glory!

And after!

I asked her if she wanted to see it in the mirror.
And she said, "No, thank you."
I said "It looks pretty".
And she said, "Do I look like the Singing Lady?" (Julie Andrews from the Sound of Music)
And I said, "Of course."

Care For A Little Whine?

Ughhhhh...

I'm changing the name of the blog to:

Sick Pea and Buttercough

For real, I'm throwing in the towel here! I quit! I can not fake my way through this one more time. Someone has been sick at our house since the first week of December. I have tried quarantining us. I have tried pushing through. I have tried Baby Vicks, Lil Nose Drops, Honey Tea, Orange Juice, Vaporizers, Benedryl, Tylenol, Motrin, obsessive hand washing, sheet changing, no kissing policies, Purel Hand Sanitizer, four trips to the pediatrian (just a virus we are told) airing out the house, outdoor activities...and still the coughing, the sniffling and the fevers prevail. I give up!

Last night it was me and Molly cuddled up on the sofa at 1 am with 102 fevers waiting for the Tylenol to work. For both of us! Jane's fever gets above 100 and I admittedly have some anxiety flash backs to the night of the seizure. Finally, at 3 am, Molly's fever had broken so I put her to bed and then Jane woke up coughing. The only way to suppress Jane's night time cough is by sleeping in "Mama and Dada bed".

Jane can have Benedryl to suppress the cough, but it makes her both drowsy and hyper at the same time. So, she wants to watch a "mobie" but she wants to climb on you the entire time--doing up your buttons, sliding down your legs, "tome-ing your hair".
Molly can't take anything but Tylenol, so the poor baby just coughs and sniffles. I can't take a decongestant because I'm nursing Molly. Molly can't nurse because she's too congested. See where this is going...

I think we're going to extend our new house search--to Cancun!

Snow! Snow! Come out in the Snow!

We got a good little taste of winter this week. We had some snow, some sleet and some freezing rain. Andrew and I both love the snow. We love to watch it come down. We love to watch the Live! Local! Redundant! news packages. We love mittens, hats, scarves and boots. We love to go outside and listen to the quiet. We love to throw it at each other and make snowmen. We love to hanker down and pretend like we couldn't go anywhere even if we wanted to!

Jane?
Not so much. She will get into the anticipation part. She will even fake excitement at watching it snow from every window of the house. She tolerates the news programs as long as they don't interrupt Sesame Street.

She does not care for the snow clothes. It takes a good twenty minutes to get everyone dressed for some snow play. This is when the whining ensues. "I'm hot. I have to pee. This is too tight. I don't like these glubs. I'm hungry. " Then we finally get outside and, "I'm cold. The snow hurts my eyes. I don't want to fall down. I'm hungry. Let's go warm up."

If we ignore her, then she will usually get into playing in the snow. Or maybe she just decides that it's easier to placate us.
This is her and Daddy playing in the snow. They managed to make a small family of snowmen before Janie needed to come inside to warm up.
Sorry the picture is so small.
Margaret and I stayed in that day and this is as close as my zoomer would zoom.
If you click on it, it will be bigger.

And here is Margaret. Oddly enough, she seems to enjoy the brisk weather!
